The Buonconvento area is known for its challenging cycling route, the Eroica trail, which winds through the rolling hills of Tuscany. Another well-known route in the area is the Via Francigena, also known as "the road to Rome," which runs from England, through France and Switzerland, and ends in Rome. This historic route, which is part of the European Cultural Heritage, is followed by pilgrims each year as they journey south to the graves of apostles Peter and Paul in Rome.
